  • Ask visitors to bookmark your site. A simple "bookmark us" icon on all your pages is one of the easiest ways to increase repeat visits.

  • Provide useful tools. Is there a graph, chart, calculator, or template that will make the lives of your visitors and customers a little easier or solve a specific challenge? For example, if you are a web site about buying used cars a loan calculator might be useful to your visitors. How do you know what they might find useful? Ask them. And don't forget to check out your competitors' web sites to see what tools they are offering!

  • Keep up with the news. And make sure to post it on your pages. Visitors aren't going to come back if you site never changes. That's boring! But they will come back if they know they are going to be able to find the latest news, updates, and information regarding the products and services in your industry. Keep up with what's new, and share it. You can even ask your visitors if they would like to sign up for e-mail reminders that let them know every time there's important new news on your web site.

  • Share advice. Let your visitors ask you-or an expert-questions. This is a great way to get people to come back again and again! If you choose to go the expert route, how do you secure him? Make it worth his while by providing a benefit, such as a link back to his web site or free advertising for their products and services. Your expert can also give advice through chat forums, message boards, or a weekly e-mail.

  • Create a sense of community on your web site, and people will continue to visit. One way to create a sense of community is to install interactive forums such as discussion boards, message boards, chat rooms, workshops and private offices, free classified advertising, letters of the day submitted by visitors, and other visitor submissions.

With the right tools and know-how, visitors and customers will be encouraged to return to your web site. And the more they return, the better chance they'll buy!
