Great Marketing and Your Website Design: How to Earn Your Customer's Trust - and Money

When it comes to marketing success, the design elements of your website don't count for everything - but they sure do count for a lot. When potential clients visit your site, they need to be captivated from the get go. If you cannot capture their attention right away, chances are that they will not stick around to see why you and your business are worth their time. It may not be right and it may not be fair, but it's just the way it is. After all, at home and online businesses are not only convenient for the women who run them - they must be convenient for potential customers, too.

At this point, you may be in a bit of a panic about the fate of your new business. However, as intimidating as website marketing and design can be, they do not have to be scary. In fact, with a few simple design suggestions, website visitors will fall in love with your site within moments and feel compelled to give you their business.

The first and most important thing you can do for your company is to keep your website simple. As tempted as you may be to use all of the design features that you know, too many design elements can distract and intimidate viewers. Limit graphics, sidebars, headlines, and other prominent features to a minimum to create a lot of focus on the elements that you want to stand out.

The second way you can make your website appealing is to pick a color scheme and stick with it. Unless you are advertising for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, there is no need to fill your website with every color in the crayon box. Pick a basic color for your background and find one or two text colors to complement it.

When it comes to colors, another excellent way to spruce up your design is to add a lot of color contrast. If you use a dark background, you should overlap that with light text. Alternatively, if you use a light background, you should use dark text for your copy. You can also achieve a nice level of contrast by adding dark or light graphics to stand out against your background. A little bit of contrast will go a long way in your overall website design. continued>
