Killer Sales Copy!

What's the goal of your business? To close a lot of sales, right? Well, if you can write a powerful, attention-grabbing, action-demanding sales letter, you've fought more than half the battle.

But, you say, I'm not a writer. No worries! Anyone can write a killer sales letter. Just make sure it has the following components, and you are good to go:

- Answer the all-important question. The question is, "What's in it for me," and you can expect every one of your potential customers to ask it. Your sales letter must have a theme that identifies your customers' needs, desires, hopes, and dreams.

- Use your customer's name. "Lois, I guarantee you will save $2.49 every time you purchase my products online," resonates much better than, "Sir . . . . "

- Grab your reader's attention right away. Use a bold headline at the top of the letter, and make sure the headline solves a problem, creates a great offer, is controversial, quotes an impressive statistic, etc . . . you get the picture. Subheads can be used throughout the letter to create a similar effect.

- Be relevant. The content of the letter shouldn't stray from its purpose, especially when it comes to the action you are asking your reader to take. Be clear, to the point, concise, and engaging.

- Always write to sell. Even if the message or theme is not about selling. Every time you make contact with a customer you should be thinking about closing a sale. Is your letter compatible with this goal? Your objective is to sell, sell, sell!

- Once you write the letter, don't forget to read it! If you were the customer, would this letter appeal to you? Would it encourage you to buy? If you feel like you are biased ask a friend to read the letter? Would they buy? If not, why? Keep revising the letter until it meets your goal to sell.

- Use power words and phrases. Power words and phrases are concise, to the point, and okay, powerful. Get the readers involved in your letter by using words such as guaranteed, free samples, and call now.

- Make letters visually appealing. Use nice graphics, bright colors, friendly fonts, and bold paragraph headings. Make sure your letterhead and logos are appealing as well. Remember that your logo is the thing that your customers will equate with your business, so make sure it's a good one that represents your business well.

- Keep it simple. Technical jargon and fancy words have no place in a good sales letter.

- Tell the reader what to do. Order now, click here, call me . . . all these encourage action in the reader.

- Include a final line-a postscript, if you will-that summarizes the message of your letter.

You want to close sales. An effective sales letter will help you reach your goal!
