Running a business online can be one of the easiest things you have ever done, but if you are dealing with buyers from around the world, you can often times find that the phone or the fax is ringing at many different hours of the night. What you need to do is prepare yourself for saying NO to buyers who are in different time zones, so you can get some sleep and get on with business the next day. You also are going to need to set up some type of alternative plans so that you can sleep without hearing the phone ring at all hours of the day.

First, you need to learn to say NO! While you are building a business, you may find it difficult to say no to anyone that wants to give you money for your service or for your products. But, in order to put your business first, you need to set hours and set yourself some type of pattern. You know you can't walk into any grocery store at 4 in the morning, unless they have all night hours. If you don't want to have all night hours, you must set hours and stick to them.

Get an answering machine, voice mail or some method of knowing when a business caller is calling. You can give special rings to anyone calling your phone, and you can use this to your advantage if you like. If you need, get caller id and use it so you know if you are faced with an emergency from a family member in the middle of the night or just an impatient buyer from another country.

How will you properly implement the voice mail or answering system into your business? Get a line that will have a generic message if you have other people in the home. Or you could also put a voice system on your phone and list it as: if you are calling xxx company press one, if you want to reach bob press two, if you want to reach shelly press two and so on, but always make your company name the first button!

Turn the ringer down in the bedroom at night. If you are selling items to buyers who have your number, and you are dealing with various areas of the country and time zones are different it is important that you make those buyers realize your business hours are 8 am to 6 pm central time, or eastern time or what ever time zone you are located in. Setting boundaries for your business will create a very professional atmosphere and overall setting for your business.
